PINE BUSH – The Town of Crawford Republican Committee has announced its list of endorsed candidates for local and county offices for 2009. Over the last two months, the committee has conducted interviews of potential candidates. As might be expected, the emphasis in these interviews was for fiscal conservatism. Key concerns included the amount of community involvement shown by the candidates, their determination to control government spending, and their vision for improvements to the infrastructure in the Town of Crawford, and the county at large.
Town of Crawford Republican Chairwoman Kelly A. Eskew said, "The best thing we could do for our committee right now is endorse candidates who understand the times we are in — candidates that have a record of being fiscally conservative which lessens the burden of taxes on all of the families and small businesses in our town. These candidates fit those requirements." .
The endorsed candidates are as follows:
- Orange County Executive Edward Diana
- Orange County Clerk Donna Benson
- Orange County District Attorney Francis Phillips
- Orange County Legislator 18th District Dan DePew
- Town of Crawford Supervisor Charles Carnes
- Town Board Member Dan Flanick
- Town Board Member Mike Menendez
- Town Clerk Kelly A. Eskew
- Highway Superintendent Stephen Russell
- Justice Bryan Kulak
- Justice Jane Harrington*
- Assessor Robert Kolacz
- Tax Collector Connie Latimer
* Jane Harrington is the only non-incumbent Republican candidate.
