At about 2:45 p.m., on Thursday, April 30, the Ellenville Police arrested Jamin A. Ward, 28, of Whispering Hills Drive in Chester, NY, in connection with the shooting which occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday night on Berme Road, leaving Alex Jorge, 24, of Lundy Road with a gunshot wound in the back of the neck. According to police, Ward turned himself in to the custody of the Ellenville Police Department on Thursday afternoon, and is represented by Benjamin Greenwald of Greenwald Law Offices in Chester, NY.
As of Friday, Jorge's condition was upgraded from serious-but-stable to stable condition at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, to which he was airlifted via helicopter on Tuesday night.
Ward was charged with two counts of assault in the first degree, a class b felony; one count of reckless endangerment in the first degree; and one count of criminal use of a firearm in the first degree. He was arraigned before the Honorable Village Justice Harvey Levine on Thursday, and remanded to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail. The preliminary hearing was set for May 5 at 4 p.m. in the Village of Ellenville court.
