Pine Bush Choirs Take First Place
Soloists Triumph Too

PINE BUSH – Two choirs from Pine Bush High School achieved top honors at the Choral Festival in Williamsburg, Virginia, on May 1.

The Mixed Select Choir and the Women's Choir both took first place, competing against 18 other schools. They received the Overall Grand Prize for Outstanding Choral Performances, after earning the highest scores in the festival.

In addition, soloist Michael Lancellotti won for Outstanding Male Soloist and Kelly Myers won for Outstanding Female Soloist.

Music teacher and music department chair Brian Flint was also honored as the Director of Distinction for the festival.

"The kids did an absolutely great job," said Flint. "They were singing level five and six music, and they did Pine Bush proud."

Flint also noted that the Pine Bush choirs behaved impeccably throughout the trip.

"Their overall behavior and decorum was first rate; I was really proud of them. I knew they were a great bunch of kids, they've worked hard, and I'm just happy for them that they stepped up and achieved what we knew was possible."
