ELLENVILLE - Only weeks after shutting its doors for a supposed one-month hiatus, it's been revealed on Friday that the Nevele Grande Resort is to be made available for purchase via a public auction.
According to reports, a company called Auction America Realty, a New York-based real estate company, has been contracted to sell the resort.
“It is our goal to sell this property quickly and along with it bring employment back into the community,” an unnamed representative with the company is quoted as saying.
A call placed by the Journal to the Manhattan office of Auction America Realty on Friday was answered by a receptionist, who transferred the call to “Marvin,” at which point the call went to voicemail.
In the July 16 edition of the Journal, the Nevele's most recent general manager, SandraYoung, said that the closure of the resort was hoped to be temporary, and that the resort's owner, Joel Hoffman, was searching for a buyer for the property. Young spoke during a brief phone call on Friday, saying that she had not yet heard the news of the impending auction sale, and as such, couldn't answer questions about the future of the Nevele's employees, or that of her own job with the resort.
“It's up to whoever buys the place if they're going to keep me on or not, so I cannot guarantee I'm going to be working or somebody else,” she said.
