ELLENVILLE - The Ellenville Reformed Church's thrift store at 188 Canal Street will be holding their first fashion show, where customers and staff alike have been invited to display their best catwalks while wearing their favorite pieces from the store.
“This is the first time we've done this,” says Barbara Innes Stone, who is organizing the event. “I've read things in other papers and maybe on TV that other people have done thrift store fashion shows, and they were kind of a blast for people, admitting that they don't have money and they're going to go to a thrift store and buy something there.”
The show will feature free light refreshments, and perhaps even a bake sale put on by the church to get some goodies into the patrons' hands.
“Our prices are crazy,” says Stone. “Our top price is $5. Coats are all $2 each, and we have a mink coat that we're going to sell. Kids' clothes are a quarter, and we get some really nice stuff.”
The show will take place this Saturday, October 10, starting at 1 p.m. The store, which has been here for about 20 years, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The store is usually open on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
