Mamakating Democrats Sloppy And Ineffective
The results of the November elections in the Town of Mamakating blatantly show the sloppy and ineffectively leadership of the local Democratic Party in the Town. The newly elected candidates out-pointed the Democratic candidates with their advertising and promotional material which resulted in a victory for them. Couple this with the now deposed Democratic Town Supervisor's handling of important local issues and the Democratic Party in the Town has taken a drastic step backwards and disenfranchised many of its supporters.
The Democratic Committee in the Town needs to change its spots and bring in members who are hungry to win and not lay around like old lions waiting for victory to be brought to them.

Thank You Gil Davis
We would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to Gil Davis for the excellent job he has done as Superintendent of Highways. In addition to his commendable work in his elected capacity, he is very much involved with the local community, assisting civic groups as a volunteer/member, wearing many hats.
His background in construction has been invaluable, as evidenced by the condition of our roads. Gil has restored a sense of pride in our highway department; it is uplifting to drive by the Town Barn in Wawarsing; the improvements are evident.
Hopefully the Town of Wawarsing Highway Department will build on the programs that Gil has implemented. Along with many others, we have a great deal of respect for Gil, a degree of respect we haven't felt for a very long time in our community.
Thank you Gil for a job well done!

Walker Valley Healthy Harvest A Great Success
The Walker Valley Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary held their first Healthy Harvest 5K Run/Walk and Health Fair on October 10, 2009 at the firehouse. The event was very successful and everyone had a great time.
This event was successful due to our generous sponsors; to the businesses that supplied the continental breakfast and prizes; to our health vendors who participated and of course to the many volunteers that were needed to facilitate this type of event.
The ladies auxiliary would like to extend a very special thank you to Walker Valley Auto, Canadian Tree Service, Dr. John Lichtenstein, Cobblestone Quikmart, K&D Entertainment, Immediate Medical Care, Metropolis Child Care Center, Pepsi, True Value Hardware, Walker Valley Animal Hospital, Weinert T-Shirts, Saft Electric, Mercurio Norton Tarolli, Lobo Distributors, Provident Bank, Walden Savings Bank. Pine Bush Equipment, Blanket Oil, Subway, Stewarts, Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, Pine Bush Chinese Restaurant, JJ's Borderline Deli, Luigi's Pizzeria & Restaurant, Walmart, Price Chopper, Thruway Market, Shoprite, Sam's Club, Fort Lox Bagels and Adams Fairacre Farms.
Without these sponsors and their donations this event would not have been possible.

Ellenville Good Eats
We often tend to dwell on the negative and overlook the positive things that have occurred in the Ellenville area over the last several years. For instance it wasn't too long ago that a common complaint in the Ellenville area was that there was no where to eat.
Recently close friends of my wife and mine visited from the Philadelphia area. Since we wanted to watch the World Series while eating dinner we decided to make the evening a "taste of Ellenville" and ordered our favorite dishes from various restaurants in the Ellenville area to share with our friends. We ended up choosing dishes from five different restaurants within the Ellenville area and our friends who are familiar with the best eateries in the Philadelphia area where simply blown away by the quality of the dishes. My wife and I couldn't have been prouder!
There is a message in this. While none of us could have stopped Schrade or Hydro from closing their doors, we can all help in keeping our local eateries open and thriving. Support our local restaurants whenever possible!
