PINE BUSH – Wanted on several charges related to a late night incident on Main Street in Pine Bush last Saturday, involving a rifle being fired in a dispute, Seth Pondi, 33, turned himself in to Town of Shawangunk Police, on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Chief Dan McCann, of the Town of Crawford Police, said, "We got the call then, and he was turned over to us at 6:30 p.m. He was arraigned before Judge Kulak, and then sent to Orange County Jail in lieu of either $25,000 cash bail, or a $50,000 bond."
The charges against Mr. Pondi were Menacing in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, plus Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree.
"The investigation is continuing," said Chief McCann.
The case began with a dispute involving Mr. Pondi, and another man, that escalated to the point where Mr. Pondi is alleged to have taken a rifle from his father's residence at 93 Main Street, and fired at least one shot, before leaving the scene.
Chief McCann said, "We received a call at 1:30 a.m. and responded to the Main Street address. We secured a search warrant through Judge Kulak and the Orange County District Attorney's office. Then Town of Crawford Police and Orange County Sherrif's Officers entered the premises. They seized 31 firearms and ammunition. The guns were registered in Seth Pondi's father's name. He also owns the property at 93 Main Street."
The Police investigation is continuing.
