Show me the proof

Complain, complain, complain — that is all I hear lately.

At the last town of Wawarsing meeting James Dolaway of Napanoch asked the council to write a letter to the UCSPCA to the effect that the residents of the town want Project Cat investigated. Well this resident does not! This resident believes in the rule of law and the Bill Of Rights. No one should be falsely accused or subjected to any harassment without cause, evidence or proof. There is nothing but hearsay and lies. I have never in my life witnessed anything as shocking or as one-sided as the Town of Wawarsing's board caving to nasty rumors. They do not have to provide monetary assistance to Project Cat, but not one spoke up and told the rumor mongers to stop this witch hunt. Not one said we do not know if this is fair. Ever hear of Salem, Massachusetts?

Of all the voices in this mess, I am the only person who has credibility, because I am the only one who has been in Gail's shelter.

All For the Love of Animals is trying to help the community their way, which is very nice and I wish them success. Gail Mihocko is helping the community her way. But...

What are you going to do when the next hoarder case such as the Apter Sisters comes up? Is AFTLOA going to go into a roach-infested, disgusting home the way Gail did? Are they going to spend days and days until 100 cats and kittens are removed? I highly doubt it. Mr. Distel, you forgot to mention the heroic work Gail did in that case when she was being burned at the stake.

Finally, the Ulster County SPCA taking a side without any crime being committed ruins their credibility. They do fantastic work in law enforcement, but also never seem to have room for a cat if you need to take them one. I have called many times in the past ten years and always got the "we are full" answer. If they own an investigation, they will find nothing wrong.

I do not know the names of all the people who have vilified Gail Mihocko and Project Cat. She is certified by Dr. Rugg of Kingston to euthanize cats when she deems it necessary. No one enjoys doing it, but there are times when it is the only option.

She has been accused of taking pet cats, which is untrue. She has been accused of poisoning. Absolutely untrue. She only humanely traps cats when asked to. If she euthanized a certain amount of cats, you have to compare that to how many she has taken in.

These people call her a biologist as if that is a crime. How do they think their veterinarians got through their classes? Do you think they had to take biology? Duh. One even had the crust to accuse a vet of misinterpreting a cat's illness and euthanizing him. Oh and who was the person who knew more than the doctor? Euthanasia takes six seconds. It is not cruel. What is cruel is hoarding animals or making an animal go through operations, medical treatments and lingering illnesses, because of their own wacky fear of death. The cat has no clue why he (in his mind) is being experimented on.

Mr. Bradley made an important point when he said that even when cats are neutered, some people still do not want them in their yards. When I heard other people actually think there are enough foster homes for all the area strays, I thought I had entered an insane asylum.

Once again I say let the trap, neuter and release folks do their thing and let Gail do hers. I am not opposed to TNR if done with a reasonable sized colony and I am not opposed to euthanasia. What I am horrified by are people who attacked Gail on hearsay.

Show me the proof.
