Primaries: Some Landslide Wins...
And Some Very Small Vote Counts

The significant primaries in our area were for the Democratic Party line in November. In Wawarsing the primary for the 15th County Legislative seat, being vacated by T.J. Briggs, was won by the Reverend Julius Collins, with 215 votes, easily out distancing John Gavaris who had 86.

Up the valley in Marbletown, Douglas Adams had an easy win over Rich Parete, 305 to 52 for the Democratic line.

Another Parete, John, was also defeated in the Democratic primary in the 22nd county legislative district by Kathy Nolan, 426 to 182.

Coming back to the 15th, Cassie Spoor won the Conservative Line with 5 votes, and added the Independence line with 13 votes.

In the 14th legislative district, incumbent Republican Craig Lopez secured the Independence line with 12 votes.

In Wawarsing, Terry Houck won the Independence party line for Supervisor with 35 votes. Paul McAndrews won the Independence party line for councilor with 28 votes, to Eric E. Friedman's 18.

Countywide, the Reform party write- in vote was marred by a lot of blank ballots and nonsensical names.

At last count, in the County Comptroller primary, Elliott Auerbach was leading the Reform party count and will probably add that line to the Democratic, Republican Working Families, and other lines that he already has for November's election.
