SCHOOL BOARD MEETING OF MAR. 5

The new Board of Education will meet twice a month, on the first and third Tuesdays, at 6:30 p.m., alternately in the old gym at Livingston Manor and in the cafeteria at Roscoe, in preparation for the start of the 2025-26 school year.

The new board consists of seven members: James Buck, president; Ed Gorr, vice president; Tasse Niforatos; Roy Rogers; Gary Dahlman; Nicole Park; and Chris Tuleweit.

Superintendent John Evans, District Clerk Marlyn Peters and School Business Manager Jeff Froehlich, all of whom currently hold shared positions in the Livingston Manor and Roscoe districts, were appointed to serve the same interim roles in the new district through June 30.

As a first step, the board approved the Roscoe Central School building as the new district’s elementary school and the Livingston Manor Central School facility as the middle and high school.

The new board will determine critical aspects of the new district including name, school colors, mascot, contracts and staffing. It will craft the new district’s 2025-26 operating budget, which will go before voters on May 20 at the Manor school.

Local tax exemptions that would have sunseted with the dissolution of the districts were approved by the board. The new district will begin operation July 1, 2025.

Apr. 22: Roscoe: Regular meeting and adoption of LM-R proposed budget; SCBOCES vote and election.
May 6: Roscoe: Public hearing on the budget.
May 20: Livingston Manor: Budget vote and election, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
June 3: Livingston Manor: Regular meeting.
June 17: Roscoe: Regular meeting.
July 1: Livingston Manor: Reorganization meeting.
